Finding the Errors while using Empathy

August 29th, 2008

While using Empathy if you feel some problem, start empathy using the terminal and find the errors. Goto terminal, use

rosarioarun@ros-lap:~$ sudo empathy

Now you can find the errors displayed, try to fix the errors… If you dont get the call option in the context menu, try to solve the errors. Me getting the Call option in the context menu. or Mail me the errors we will try to find the solution.

    Arun,

I believe that the error is bcoz of the versions. The version that got downloaded automatically was 0.22.1 and that’s why I couldnt VC. But then when I upgrated it upgraded to some 0.22.x version where I’m getting the Call button (finally, huh!! ) and it seems to be okay now. (Well, not VC but audio alone).

There are a few drawbacks. When somebody is calling me, there is no audio / visual notification other than the small green dot blinking. My mic volume is too low. Hope that this gets fixed in the newer versions. Until then, I will have to keep going back to Vista atleast for chat. :(
